Be it a dirt bike, ATV or Side-Side, it is important to keep your powersport vehicle in its peak condition to avoid unexpected breakdowns. Despite regular service and timely part replacement, powersport vehicles require regular check-ups since they tend to break down due to the amount of pressure they are put through.

At Extreme Powersports, we want you to have a great time on the trails or even when you are choring around on your farm. That said, we are sharing a list of tools that you must keep handy to keep your powersport vehicle running.

Breaker Bar

A breaker bar comes in handy when you want to break loose lug nuts or bolts that are too stubborn for a regular wrench. Thanks to its long arm, a breaker bar gives you more leverage to undo a stubborn lug nut. It is recommended to buy a breaker bar that is 16 to 24 inches long. A breaker bar of this size is sufficient for your powersport toolbox.

Impact Wrench

It’s a great tool for spinning off lug nuts that have a longer travel. While using a manual wrench may take forever to spin off a lug nut, an electric impact wrench does the job in seconds. The only downside is that you will require a power source to operate an impact wrench. However, there are some impact wrenches that can derive power from your ATV’s battery.

Bead Breaker

When it comes to unmounting the tire from the rim, a bead breaker saves a lot of time and effort. It’s a great tool to separate the tire from the rim so that it can be removed easily. You may want to use the bead breaker at different points of contact to remove the tyre completely.

Wrenches of every size

Trying to remove a lug nut but don’t have the right size of wrench? Every DIY enthusiast has been in a similar situation at least once. Therefore, it’s a good idea to have a complete set of wrenches in your toolkit.

Adjustable Wrench

If you don’t have enough space in your toolkit to keep wrenches of all sizes, and need a versatile tool that you can carry along and use on the go, then investing in an adjustable wrench is worth it. Adjusting the wrench jaw to the size of the lug nut may take some time, but that’s the trade-off you should be willing to make.

Air Compressor

A flat tire can put an end to your adventure. Even if you have a spare one, you don’t want to be changing tires when you are on the trails to have fun. In that scenario, a ‘plug n play’ air compressor can save the day. These automotive-grade air compressors derive power from your vehicle’s battery and inflate the tire in a couple of minutes.

Screwdrivers

Screws are mostly used to fasten fairings to the vehicle’s body or secure a fuse box or any electronic device under the seat. At some point, you are going to have to deal with a Phillips-head screw while working on your vehicle. That is why you should always have a screwdriver in your toolkit.

The ownership of a powersports vehicle is equal parts riding and maintenance. Therefore, having a complete toolkit is just as important as having protective riding gear.
